Planning a Safe Night Out
"Safe Night Out" Checklist
-
Decide on an agenda for the night.
Set a timeframe for the night. Ask yourself, “When am I going to get home?” “How many drinks should I have?”
-
Eat some food!
Food helps slow down the rate of alcohol absorption. So have a pizza or burger with your friends before you go out.
-
Know your standard serving sizes of alcohol/calculate your Blood Alcohol Concentration.

Plan to alternate between alcoholic drinks and water.
-
Fully charge your phone.
Before going out, you want to make sure your phone is charged, that way throughout the night you can either call your DD or get on the app for Uber or Lyft to get a safe ride home.
-
Maintain a group text with your friends.
Stay in contact with your group. Watch out for each other and make sure that everyone gets home safely. Before the night starts, make sure to put the numbers of everyone in your friend group on your phone, that way you can keep in touch with each other throughout the night and check in.
-
Have a safe and sober ride planned ahead of time.
Select a designated driver. Whether that be you, or a friend, or maybe a rideshare. Have a safe ride planned out before going out so that you can make sure you and others get home safely.
